In it for the Long Haul

January 01, 2015

Mr. Ramirez has years of experience driving 18 wheelers in agriculture, but he is now wanting to expand his business to contract for oil companies requiring his services to transport dirt and caliche.

Mr. Hipolito Ramirez and his wife, Norma, were referred to the SBDC to obtain assistance with paperwork missing for the new venture of their trucking business.

Adviser Havins was able to assist the clients and guide them through the multiple changes needed in their business to accommodate the new venture. From legal structure, insurance changes to applications with the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) and the Texas Department of Motor vehicles (TXDMV) to make sure all areas were covered.

Mr. and Mrs. Ramirez are excited about the expansion of their business and they look forward to continue adding trucks to their new business and obtaining the assistance from adviser Havins. They stated, “It is helpful to know we have someone that is bilingual who can help us in our own language. Adriana is a lot of help for Hispanic businesses.”

Advisor Havins continues working closely with clients in the development of their business.
