ASU Theatre to Present ‘The Zoo Story’

November 03, 2011

Angelo State University will present two performances of the student-directed drama production “The Zoo Story” on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11-12, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

Both performances will begin at 8 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, Room 241A in the EFA Building, and are open free to the public.

The one-act play embroils two characters in a conversation-based story of attack and retreat. It opens with the character Peter sitting on a bench in New York’s Central Park reading a book. The other character, Jerry, strikes up a conversation and pushes Peter into revealing his life story while the conversation devolves into a power struggle over possession of the bench.

ASU student director of the play is Kandice Harris. Student actors are Jacob Scott as Peter and T. Sefcik as Jerry.

Written by Edward Albee in 1958, “The Zoo Story” was performed in Europe for two years until it returned to the U.S. for a 1960 opening off-Broadway.
