As San Angelo grows and begins to understand how important it is to treat and maintain our environment, recycling has become a great way to do that. Sam was an avid recycler, taking his recyclables to the local center on a consistent basis. A company offered to pick up and haul recyclables for a monthly fee. The business turned out to be unsuccessful and Sam had the opportunity to buy the business. Sam did but knew he needed help and turned to Advisor Paul Howard of the Angelo State University ∙ Small Business Development Center.

Advisor Howard suggested Sam meet with the SBDC staff to come up with ideas in which to run the business more efficiently. We also discussed ways to market his new business. Sam says, “The SBDC provided valuable information on recycling and marketing.”

Sam implemented many of the SBDC’s ideas which resulted in Go Green & Recycle expanding to hire four new employees. The company was also able to purchase trucks and trailers. In addition Go Green & Recycle has added a glass pulverizer to enhance even more recycling.
