Rico’s Café is now open on the north side of Mason. Eloy Rico, a long time cook, has opened his own restaurant! Eloy has worked for every restaurant in the area and when he decided he would open his very own restaurant. He discussed his idea with the bankers at Commercial Bank of Mason and they suggested Eloy contact the Angelo State University Small Business Development Center.

Rural Business Advisor Peggy Rosser met with Eloy over a three-month period in order to assist him with a business plan and projections. Once he had determined he was ready, he leased the building formally known by locals at the North side Café, and remodeled it and renamed it using his name, Rico’s Café.“Mrs. Rosser helped me with business projections for my startup restaurant. She helped me get registered for my food manager’s training and to get my sales tax number. I am glad to see her every time she is in Mason.” Eloy mentioned at one of Advisor Rosser’s visits.Rico Café has hired three full-time employees and three part time employees adding to the economic base of Mason, Texas.
