Nancy Craig was working as a licensed massage therapist in Arkansas when her husband’s job brought them to San Angelo. Nancy explored possibilities of being an employee of a spa or of owning her own business. After learning what she could, Nancy settled on owning her own business and renting a room from a spa. To make sure that she set her business up correctly, Nancy contacted the AngeloState University – Small Business Development Center for assistance. She was assigned to business advisor James Leavelle.

James explained to her the steps she would need to take to establish her business in Texas. They discussed ways to market and grow her business. Nancy filed for and received her Doing Business As (DBA) sole proprietorship certificate. She feels James’s assistance was invaluable in helping her start her business inTexas. She says, “He has helped guide me in local laws, marketing, and structure for my long term goals. James has helped me for several months and I have grown in my success each day. I hope to continue working with James and others at the San Angelo Small Business Development Center in the future.”
