Nursing Experience
I have been a faculty member at Angelo State University Department of Nursing and Rehabilitation Science since August, 2008. So, I’m relatively new to San Angelo but not Texas as I lived, worked and went to school in Houston/Galveston and surroundings for 20 years. I have worked in many institutions, agencies and educational settings over the years but my primary experiences have been with psychiatric nursing. This started many, many years ago with my training in the U.K. (Manchester) as a Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) - yes that is what they are called! Later I went on to earn State Registered Nurse (Med-Surg) certification. Upon arriving in the US I eventually completed the RN - BSN, MSN, and Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner programs at the University of Texas Health Science Center - Houston. More recently I have practiced as an APRN in Adult Mental-Health Nursing and have taught the same and completed a doctorate at the University of Texas Medical Branch (School of Nursing) - Galveston. I also worked at UTMB School of Nursing for 10 years so I really am burnt orange inside and out! Even more recently I completed a Post-Masters Certificate in Nursing Informatics and became “certified” - so learning never ends!
