This certificate is an excellent addition to the résumé of anyone interested in a career related to homeland security, cyber security, information technology, emergency management, law enforcement, or in areas of federal, state, or local government and the private sector.  

Program Highlights

  • This challenging certificate program is taught 100 percent online and in eight-week terms, allowing working professionals to add an area of specialization, or to update their skill sets to better compete in today’s hottest job markets.

  • Faculty includes nationally recognized experts in border and homeland security, terrorism and human rights, cybersecurity, emergency management, and modern law enforcement techniques and training.

  • Course materials are designed to increase students’ knowledge of national and international security issues in the areas of cybersecurity and vulnerability, with a holistic approach to real world issues.

  • Upon completion of the certificate, students can choose to pursue a Master of Science in Homeland Security from Angelo State and use their certificate credits as electives for their degree.

Admission Requirements

  • All college and university transcripts
  • Essay of no more than 750 words discussing an important issue of homeland security
  • At least two letters of recommendation

Prerequisites

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 2.75 or better, including all grades on repeated courses, or hold a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 3.0 or better in the last 60 hours of undergraduate work. 

Note: Required GPA may be waived on a case-by-case basis by the department head.
