Martha Saywell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Keyboard Studies degree from Murray State University and both Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Wisconsin.  She has served on the piano faculty of A Step Above Dance and Music Academy in Wisconsin, the University of Texas – Pan American, and Laredo (TX) Community College.

Dr. Saywell’s musical endeavors have led her all over the United States and a handful of European countries. She has performed hundreds of concerts, both solo and collaborative, and has had the privilege of working with many internationally acclaimed artists including Alexa Still, Andrew Garland, Charles Abramovic, Maurice Hinson, and Warren Jones.

Professional honors include being chosen winner of the Murray State University Contemporary Keyboard Competition, winner of the Kentucky Music Association State Competition, winner of the Paducah Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, winner of the Irving Shain Woodwind and Piano Duo Competition, and most recently an academic excellence grant from the San Antonio Chapter of the Wisconsin Alumni Association. She has also been the recipient of a United National Leadership and Service Award.

Dr. Saywell has maintained an active teaching schedule not only through her faculty positions, but also through private instruction and guest presentations at various universities across the United States. She has served as adjudicator for various local music associations and regional universities across south and west Texas.  Dr. Saywell is a member of the College Music Society and the Music Teachers National Association.
