Michael J. Burnett
Communication, Mass Media, and Theatre
Angelo State University is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Burnett to the College of Arts and Sciences. He will begin his duties as Assistant Professor of Theatre and Assistant Director of the University Theatre in the Department of Communication, Mass Media and Theatre fall 2011.
Mike specializes in theatre design, as well as general theatre. His current research interests include popular culture theatre, applied computer technology in theatre production, and the intersection of faith and art. His Master of Fine Arts thesis was on the scenic design for Orpheus Descending by Tennessee Williams.
In almost 20 years of professional and educational theatre, Mr. Burnett has worked on over 750 productions with local and international theatre artists, and on world and American premieres, including When the World was Green by Joe Chaikin and Sam Shepard for the Atlanta Cultural Olympiad.
Mike received his MFA from the University of Mississippi in May 1997.
