Allison Dushane

English and Modern Languages

Angelo State University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Allison Dushane to the College of Arts and Humanities.  She will begin her duties as assistant professor of English in the Department of English and Modern Languages Fall 2016.

Dr. Dushane’s research and teaching interests include eighteenth and nineteenth century literature, romanticism, aesthetic theory, environmental writing, and science studies. She is currently in the process of co-editing an annotated scholarly edition of Erasmus Darwin’s The Botanic Garden and finishing a book manuscript titled The Romantic Event: Matter, Agency, and Aesthetic Form.

She has published articles on Erasmus Darwin, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William Wordsworth, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and the relevance of Romantic-era aesthetics to contemporary environmental concerns.

Dr. Dushane received her Ph.D. in English from Duke University in 2008.
