Angelo State University is pleased to announce the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Magnan as Professor of Aerospace Studies and Commander of the Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 847. He began his duties in June 2011.
Lt Col Magnan is a graduate of ASU and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Air Force through Detachment 847 in 1992. He spent the last 19 years in the Air Force as an Intelligence Officer working positions from squadron to Headquarters level and, therefore, brings a vast portfolio of operational experience to both the ROTC Detachment and the University.
Lt Col Magnan graduated from the Joint Military Intelligence College in 1998 with a Master of Science of Strategic Intelligence and later published an abbreviated version of his thesis in Central Intelligence Agency’s Studies in Intelligence. He graduated from Air Command and Staff College in 2005 with a Master of Military Operational Art and Science degree. Prior to assuming command of Detachment 847, Lt Col Magnan was the Deputy Commander of the 505th Distributed Warfare Center at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
