Devon A. Stewart

Angelo State University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Devon A. Stewart to the College of Arts and Humanities. She will begin her duties as assistant professor of Art History in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts Fall 2016.
Dr. Stewart’s area of specialization is ancient Roman art, with a concentration in funerary monuments and the art and archaeology of Pompeii. Her current research interests center on the funerary monuments of the urban non-elite in Rome, especially manumitted slaves.
In 2011 Dr. Stewart was a finalist for the U.S. Student Fulbright Program in Italy, and in 2009 she received the Abrams Travel Fellowship through the Department of Art History at Emory University.
Dr. Stewart received her Ph.D. from Emory University in December 2014.
