Kanisorn Wongsrichanalai
History and Political Science
Angelo State University is pleased to announce the appointment of Kanisorn Wongsrichanalai to the College of Arts and Sciences. He will begin his duties as an assistant professor in the Department of History and Political Science fall 2011.
His areas of expertise include the American Civil War, nineteenth century social and cultural history, military history, slavery, American Jewish history, and digital history. His dissertation, "The Burden of Their Class: College-Educated New Englanders and Leadership in the Civil War Era," written under the direction of noted Civil War historians Gary Gallagher and Ed Ayers, is under contract with Fordham University Press.
Dr. Wongsrichanalai has been a post-doctoral fellow at East Tennessee State University and has worked on the University of Virginia’s nationally recognized digital history center on a wide variety of projects ranging from Civil War Era communities to the Civil Rights Movement.
Dr. Wongsrichanalai received his PhD from the University of Virginia in August 2010.
