What are some of your favorite things to do in San Angelo?

I stay busy with my family and friends, attending my sisters’ basketball and volleyball games, road cycling, catching a flick at Tinseltown, and walking/jogging along different areas. I also enjoy boating and tubing at Lake Nasworthy, playing sand volleyball, mingling with friends at local pubs or billiards halls, barbecuing, reading books and cooking. Since I bleed Blue & Gold, I love attending ASU sporting events – you may just find me there.

Favorite restaurant in San Angelo?

My favorite restaurant here in San Angelo Franco's Café . I enjoy the hometown feel environment and taste of their Mexican Cuisine. It is the ultimate and offers the best Mexican and American food in San Angelo. For the low cost, there is plenty of food for your money. I might also add that their food is muy delicioso!

What advice would you give students about choosing a university?

Visit the campuses you are considering. I truly believe that once you tour a campus, you will be able to leave knowing whether that university is for you. Listen to your instincts when you are visiting college campuses. Ask yourself questions, such as “Do I feel comfortable here? Can I see myself here? Does it feel like ‘home’?”

What advice would you give a student about succeeding in college?

ASU prepares you for your tomorrow, so take the opportunity and know that you have the potential for college success. With your commitment, know that you have the strength and determination to accomplish academic achievements, even if you are facing adversity or overcoming obstacles.

Also, get involved. By attending ASU activities on campus and local events in the community, there will be beneficial outcomes that will allow you to make a positive contribution to the campus and community life.

Why did you decide to attend Angelo State University?

I felt that ASU would provide me with opportunities. ASU offers academic excellence in a small-classroom environment, with an average student-to-teacher ratio of 19:1. We also offer more than 100 student organizations and clubs. With so much to get involved in, ASU quickly becomes your home away from home.

What were your favorite activities or organizations in college and why?

At ASU, I enjoyed being a member of our Angelettes dance team and supporting school spirit through various dance performances at ASU events. Joining the Student Senate was a great opportunity to learn about making decisions that impact the student body. Being a part of the Association of Mexican-American Students (AMAS) gave me the opportunity to get involved with other ASU events and community service projects throughout the community.

What do you like about being an admissions counselor?

I enjoy helping students. Choosing a university is one of the most important decisions we can make in our lives. It is a pleasure for me to answer your questions or just help you along the way with our admission process.
