Transfer Credit Policies
Transfer of Credit From Other Colleges and Universities
The Office of Admissions determines which courses taken at another institution may be accepted for credit at Angelo State. Transcript evaluations are based on course content as described in an institution's catalog, and are conducted in consultation with Angelo State academic departments to determine the maximum number of credit hours that may be transferred. Please allow the Office of Admissions anywhere from three days to two weeks for evaluation. Time frame is dependent on the volume of transcripts received.
The cumulative grade point average (GPA) from all transferable coursework completed is used for admission purposes. When you enroll at Angelo State, only courses taken and grades received at Angelo State are used in calculating your GPA. You will receive credit hours for transferable courses, but the grades will not transfer.

Application of Transfer Work to Academic Programs
The academic dean of the ASU college in which a student is enrolled determines which courses will be applied to any specific degree plan. Credit hours will be applied to degree programs and majors when courses are deemed equivalent to the Angelo State courses that satisfy the same requirement. This determination is made through evaluation of course content as described in an institution's catalog. A maximum of 66 credit hours from a two-year institution may be applied toward degree requirements.
