Carr AFROTC Scholarships
Each year the Air Force ROTC Detachment at Angelo State University offers over $40,000 in scholarship money to qualified students in the AFROTC program. The funds are from the Carr AFROTC Scholarship endowment. The endowment, left to the university by Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Carr, is the largest private scholarship fund for AFROTC in the nation, and is currently valued at one million dollars.Criteria for Selection

Scholarships up to $1,500 are awarded annually
Deadline for Applications
Applications are accepted year-round; but to receive your award check at fee-payment time, please submit your application package by March 1. We conduct the scholarship board in early April and usually give all the money out at that time for the following fall. So, you should get all portions of the application completed and in our hands before that April 1st deadline!
Selection and Notification of Scholarship Recipients
Applicants for Carr AFROTC Scholarship will be notified in writing regarding the status of their applications once the package has gone before the scholarship board. Return the enclosed letter of intent with signature to receive your scholarship.
Out-of-state Tuition Waivers
The receipt of a Carr AFROTC Scholarship does not guarantee a tuition waiver. Non-Texas residents may be considered for an out-of-state tuition waiver based on current university criteria.
Admission to Angelo State University
An entering freshman who applies for a Carr AFROTC Scholarship must also submit an Application for Admission to Angelo State University and supporting paperwork through the Admissions Office.
Duration and Conditions of Award
- Awarded for each academic year, scholarship recipients will receive one-half of their awards at fall fee-payment and the remainder at spring fee-payment provided the recipients are meeting the scholarship's academic requirements specified in the Statement of Understanding and are maintaining high personal standards.
- Attend ASU as a full-time student (12 semester credit hours (SCH) for undergraduate students)
- Attend Aerospace Studies class and Leadership Lab
- Students who withdraw from the Aerospace Studies class and lab may be required to repay all or part of the scholarship awarded.
