Christine Buckstead, a recent transplant from Wisconsin, has extensive performance experience in oratorio and chamber music. She has appeared as soprano soloist with a variety of ensembles including the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Milwaukee Ballet, Madison Chamber Choir and the Wisconsin Baroque Ensemble. Her repertoire ranges from Baroque cantatas to contemporary art song, and major dramatic roles include Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, Casilda in The Gondoliers, Marian Silver-Gray in The Impresario, Serpetta in La Finta Giardiniera and Micaëla in La Tragèdie de Carmen. She also enjoys collaborating with composers on new vocal works.
Before coming to San Angelo, Christine taught voice and music theory at Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin. She recently completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in voice at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied with Mimmi Fulmer. She holds a MM in voice from UW-Madison and a BM in voice from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, where she studied with Dan Dressen and Janice Hardy.
