John Mattson joined the ASU faculty in fall semester 2010 as a Lecturer in Art. He teaches Drawing I and Design I. He received a BA and MA from Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA, and an MFA in painting from Mills College in Oakland, CA.
Mr. Mattson is a painter and photographer and has shown his work extensively in group and solo exhibitions throughout the U.S. and Europe. Most recently he has shown his photography at L. Nowlin Gallery in Austin and his paintings at Gallery Nord, San Antonio and at the Live Oak Art Center in Columbus, Texas. He has also self-published three books of his photography. His paintings are included in art collections in Japan, Germany, England, California, Arkansas, Ohio, New Mexico and Texas.
Mr. Mattson is also employed as Museum Preparator at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts.
