Kimberly Busby

Kimberly Sue Busby was born in Danville, Illinois.  She graduated cum laude with highest distinction in the Classics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1988 with a degree in Classical archaeology.  She completed her Master of Arts in Classical archaeology at the University of Arizona in 1992.  Following graduate coursework in the Center for Old World Archaeology and Art at Brown University, Busby worked as a report production supervisor for the cultural resources management firm, R. Christopher Goodwin & Associates in their New Orleans office.  In December 2007, Dr. Busby completed her Ph.D. in Art History at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign specializing in Etruscan and Roman art and archaeology.  Her dissertation, entitled, “The Temple Terracottas of Etruscan Orvieto:  A Vision of the Underworld in the Art and Cult of Ancient Volsinii,” offers an examination of the intersection of art, architecture and ritual at one of the most important towns in pre-Roman Italy, ancient Volsinii, a locus for chthonic cults and their associated remains.
