ASU Angelettes

Angelettes

General Information

The Angelettes are the official Angelo State University dance team and can be seen at home football and basketball games and at specially sanctioned university events. Members of the Angelettes receive scholarships that increase annually for dancers who are invited to return – based on positive history in the organization and audition results – for the next school year. Any current or incoming female student is welcome to audition.

Eligibility

  • Incoming freshmen or transfer students must be accepted to ASU prior to auditioning.
  • If you have accumulated any college credits, you must have a grade point average of 2.25 or better on a 4.0 scale. A copy of an unofficial transcript should be provided on audition day for verification purposes.
  • Candidates already attending ASU must be full-time students (12+ semester credit hours) holding a minimum GPA of 2.25 and must be in good standing with the university.
  • $40 Application Fee (check or money order made out to Band Council) submitted with application.

Audition Information

  • Open auditions for the 2012-2013 academic year will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at 4:00 PM. All candidates from Friday’s audition will receive an invitation to audition on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 9:00 AM. The duration of the auditions will vary depending on the number of candidates.
  • Friday’s auditions will take place in the Center for Human Performance (CHP) gym floor.
  • A basic dance background in jazz and kick is recommended but not required. All students planning to audition should wear all-black dance or athletic attire (please no loose or baggy clothing).
  • Dance shoes are not required, but are strongly recommended (candidates should be able to easily execute the required techniques in their chosen footwear). No half soles, lyrical sandals, foot-undeez, or socks.
  • Please keep hair pulled back away from face and limit makeup to a natural look (performance makeup not necessary).
  • No excessive jewelry (hoop earrings, watches, etc.).
  • No brightly colored nail polish (clear, natural polish and French or American tips are acceptable).
  • No gum.

Please note that the Angelettes audition is a two-day process.

Video Auditions

Students who wish to audition, but are unable to attend on the set audition dates, may elect to audition via video.

  • What qualities make you an outstanding candidate for the Angelettes?
  • What do you think makes you an exciting performer to watch?
  • What measures will you take throughout the semester to ensure that you continue to meet our GPA requirements (minimum 2.25)?
