Music Student Achievements
The ASU Horn studio attended the Mid-South Region of the International Horn Society Conference at Wichita State University, Wichita, KS. March, 2006. In addition to workshops, recitals, and master classes, they all performed in the massed horn ensemble which concluded the 3-day event.

David Evans, a former trumpet student of Dr. John Irish, recently won a position in the Air Force Band of the West in San Antonio. In 2004, David also competed in the Young Texas Artists Music Competition in Conroe, TX.
Brandon Land, a horn student of Dr. John Irish, competed in the Midland-Odessa Symphony International Young Artists Competition in January, 2005.
The ASU Trumpet Ensemble, directed by Dr. John Irish, was featured at the 2003 Conference of the International Trumpet Guild. Their performance was noted in the October 2003 issue of the ITG Journal, which stated that "Both works would be welcomed additions to any ensemble’s library and were well performed by the Angelo State University Trumpet Ensemble."
