This degree requires a minimum of 130 hours with a minimum of 39 advanced hours.

* Chemistry requirement may also be satified by Chemistry 1411, 1412, 3151, 3351, 3152, 3352, and 4331. These courses would also satisfy the requirement for a minor (supporting concentration)
** Can be courses in any discipline other than biology
*** Students must have been admitted to the teacher education program and must be currently satisfying admission standards before being allowed to enroll in either Education 4322 or 4323.

Biology as a Teaching Field with Secondary Certification
A student who chooses biology for a second teaching field must complete the following courses: Biology 1480, 2401, 2402, 2403, 3301, 4181, 4303, 4451, and four additional advanced semester hours in biology.

Biology as an Academic Specialization with Elementary Certification
A student who chooses biology for an academic specialization must complete the following courses: Biology 1410, 1411, and ten additional semester hours, nine of which must be advanced. Recommended advanced courses include: 3301, 3101, 3305, 3333, 3461, 4381, 4412, 4435. Students should enroll in advanced courses during the junior year.
