Department of Biology

Graduate Degree Programs

The Department of Biology offers graduate programs that offer research opportunities on a broad array of subject areas. Laboratory facilities and research and teaching collections of plants and animals are located on the campus. Opportunities for field-oriented graduate research are enhanced by the location of San Angelo in an ecotone between several biotic provinces. Both thesis option and a nonthesis options are available for both programs. Financial support for graduate students is available through Graduate Assistantships and Teaching Assistantships.

There are two programs available:

Master of Science in Biology

Master of Science in Biology with Emphasis in Science Education

Students interested in the ASU Biology graduate program should first contact Dr. Carol Diminnie, Graduate Dean, for admission to the University. The Graduate Office will provide application materials for admission to the Biology Department.

Additional information about the biology graduate programs can be obtained from the biology graduate advisor, Dr. Bonnie Amos, a member of the biology graduate faculty, or in the document by the ASU biology graduate faculty entitled "Thoughts on Succeeding in Graduate School".
