Welcome to Community Development Initiatives

Community Development Initiatives (CDI) began in 2007, growing out of discussions among faculty members over two important topics. First, we thought about ways we could bring faculty and students together into meaningful collaborative research and learning projects. Second, we discussed ways to better link our faculty and student efforts to the real world around us. CDI reflects the steps we are taking in the department to work more closely together in our research and learning and to link what we do in practical ways to the community that supports us.

Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, the San Angelo Health Foundation, HEB, and the Concho Valley Transit District supported the project.  Community organizations such as the Concho Valley Community Action Agency, West Texas Opportunities and Solutions, West Texas Counseling and Guidance, and Community Development Initiatives provided project leadership.
