US Department of Education

            The US Department of Education is the agency that focuses on education issues at the national level. The agency is headed by a secretary appointed by the president. The secretary is a member of the president’s cabinet. The Department of Education formulates rules and regulations that are directed to the states. Not following the rules results in loss of federal aid dollars to the states.
