Admission to the Educator Preparation Program (EPP)

Requirements for Admission to the Educator Preparation Program

Students must apply for admission to the Educator Preparation Program when they have completed at least 60 semester credit hours (SCH) but no later than 75 (SCH).

At the time of application for the Educator Preparation Program, all applicants must have completed:
Between 60 SCH and 75 SCH with a cumulative grade point average of 2.50, and the course work to demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, mathematics, communication, and critical thinking.

All course work used to demonstrate proficiency must have a grade of C or better. The student must have completed the following:

All applicants must possess sound physical health, sound mental health, and acceptable moral character. The Admission Committee may require the student to undergo physical and/or psychiatric evaluation.

Field Experiences Application

All students desiring field experiences in San Angelo ISD must go through ASU; it is against SAISD policy for students to directly contact principals or administrators seeking placement. All applications (both online application and completed paper form for criminal background check) for pre-student teaching field experience must be received no later than 5 pm, Thursday, September 4, 2008.  Students seeking placement in San Angelo ISD MUST attend a meeting with campus administrators on the assigned campus. Dates and times for the SAISD administrator meetings will be announced soon.

Fall 2008 Field Experiences Application

Student Teaching (& Block Only)

Students wishing to student teach during Spring 2009 must attend one of the application meetings on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 11:00, 3:00 or 6:00 in the University Center, Rooms 110-111 or Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 1:30 in the UC 110-111. Attendance at one of these meetings is mandatory for Spring 2009 student teaching candidates.

Instructions on the application process will be discussed at the meeting.
