Why did you choose the ASU Chemistry and Biochemistry Department?
After visiting the department and ASU while I was in high school, I felt that the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department would be a good fit for me because I not only enjoyed chemistry in high school, I also felt that biochemistry would sufficiently prepare me for my future aspirations in the medical field.

What do you like best about the program?
I really enjoy how the professors interact with the students and get to know them on a personal level. The professors are genuinely interested in the students’ success.

What are your career aspirations?
After graduation, I will attend Des Moines University School of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa, where I will train to become a podiatrist.

Major: Chemistry with a minor in math
Hometown: Marshall, TX

Why did you choose the ASU Chemistry and Biochemistry Department?
Chemistry is my favorite branch of science and is one of the most interesting fields of study. I have a technical AFROTC HSSP Scholarship, which covers my college tuition because I’m studying one of the sciences.

What do you like best about the program?
I really enjoy the outstanding faculty in the department and how they can focus on students. They help students understand what’s going on in classes, and faculty use research as a teaching aid.

What are your career aspirations?
After I commission as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, I hope to spend at least 20 years in the service and hopefully obtain a Ph.D. in physical chemistry. After that, I would like to be a chemistry professor at a university.
