The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of
Education has instituted a series of meetings to help those students whose goal
is to become a certified, secondary teacher. These students take all of their classes in the department from which
they will receive their degree.They
only enter the classes provided by the College of Education during their junior
or senior years. In an effort to make
available the necessary information to complete the requirements for
certification and encourage these students throughout the process, a number of
meetings addressing various topics have been presented. The first meeting was an orientation to the
Field Experience component of the education courses.Additionally, the students had the
opportunity to hear the motivational address of the Teacher of the Year, Nika Maples. The
remaining meetings for the fall semester will address the certification process
and the evaluation of teachers. The goal
is for students to feel fully prepared to enter the teaching profession. For additional information, contact Dr. Mary McGlamery or Dr. Kim Livengood.
