International Student Host Family Program
This ASU program matches international students with local “host families” who help them feel welcome and settle into their new lives in the United States.
Details
International students will still live on campus. There is no extra cost to join the Host Family Program. Your host family will:
- Plan time together with you (lunch, dinner or a community event) at least once a month.
- Connect with you via e-mail and photo exchange to introduce their family to you before you arrive. This will help you get acquainted with your host family before the semester begins.
- Meet you when you arrive at the airport and help you get settled into your life on campus and in West Texas.
- Include you, whenever possible, in holiday and family celebrations.
During the school year, program coordinators plan several fun socials with all of the international students and host families. We start the fall semester with a Get Acquainted “Pot-Luck” Supper at a nearby Texas ranch.
You will be invited to participate in special cultural events during the semester, such as symphony concerts and art exhibits, through the generosity of host families and friends with extra tickets.
Both you and your host families are enriched by the friendships and cultural exchanges during your time together in this program. We hope you will join us!
