    August 30 - Construction of the building that will house the Hunter Strain Engineering Laboratories is underway at Angelo State University on the east side of campus.

    May 20 - Angelo State University announced that at its May 20 meeting, the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents approved the re-naming of ASU’s Department of Civil Engineering as the “David L. Hirschfeld Department of Engineering.”

    May 4 - Dr. Joel Alejandro “Alex” Mejia of Angelo State University’s civil engineering faculty recently co-authored two articles, a research article and a guest editorial, published in the April quarterly issue of the Journal of Engineering Education.

  • ASU Adds New Engineering Faculty
    December 11 - The Angelo State University Department of Civil Engineering has announced the addition of Dr. Joel Alejandro (Alex) Mejia as its second faculty member, and he will join department chair Dr. William Kitch for the upcoming 2016 spring semester.

  • Kitch Named Chair of New Civil Engineering Department
    June 4 - Dr. William A. Kitch, professor of engineering at California State Polytechnic University-Pomona (CPP), has been named the first chair of Angelo State University’s new Department of Civil Engineering, which will begin offering engineering classes this fall.

  • New Engineering Program Wins Final Approval
    April 23 - The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) has approved the new bachelor’s degree program in civil engineering at Angelo State University, and engineering classes are scheduled to begin on campus this coming fall semester.
