The mass media program teaches students about reporting, photographing, writing and editing news for print media or broadcast outlets. Students specialize in one of these areas:

- Visual Communication
Even though students choose an area of specialization, they still take mass media courses in a variety of subject areas to give them a well-rounded education. Facilities and Equipment
Our department features a computer lab, digital television facilities, an Internet radio station and a comprehensive photography lab with digital capabilities.
The mass media program also operates the Ram Page, the award-winning weekly campus newspaper, which is completely written and produced by students.
Ram TV is the department’s television studio, where students produce, shoot, edit and air episodes of the weekly program “Access ASU.”
Ram Radio is the department’s radio station that is broadcast over the Internet. The station plays a variety of formats, so there is something for everyone.
Mass media students develop skills that are useful in a wide range of job settings. They learn how to effectively communicate with others, how to meet deadlines and how to write clearly and concisely.
Mass media students often pursue careers as reporters, writers, newscasters, editors, news analysts or public relations specialists, among others.
Our department helps students obtain internships with radio and TV stations, newspapers, magazines and corporations in the community. This real-world experience is crucial to students who want to jump-start their careers.
