Undergraduate Teacher Education
Degree Programs
Students in the Teacher Education Department participate in a comprehensive program that prepares them to touch the lives of tomorrow’s children. They learn everything from educational psychology and children’s literature to planning multicultural activities and writing across curriculum. They also focus intensely on their major subject areas. They learn how to develop strategies and lesson plans as well as how to address the needs of public and private school pupils.
Our department also puts emphasis on student teaching, which is required for certification. When students begin their student teaching, they apply everything that they have learned while studying as an undergraduate. While student teaching is done during their last semester, they are exposed to the classroom environment prior to that when they complete their field experience.
