West Texas Collection

The Texas and Borderland Studies program partners with the West Texas Collection, a special collection associated with the Porter Henderson Library. The West Texas Collection has holdings from across Texas and the Southwest. Most notably, the collection has amassed significant archives related to Pancho Villa, sheep shearing, and local and regional ranching issues. The Collection also contains items of special interest to researchers studying the Concho Valley area; the Civil War; the Border Revolution; the goat industry; oil industry; Hispanic and African American history; Texas Rangers; individual histories; John Wilkes Booth and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln; and Fort Concho and the military on the southwestern frontier.
