Concho River Review

For more than 20 years, Concho River Review (CRR) has been publishing some of the Southwest’s best short fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Started in the spring of 1987 by Dr. Terry Dalrymple, CRR is a semi-annual literary journal published by the ASU Department of English and Modern Languages. A perfect-bound, six-by-nine-inch journal of about 125 pages, CRR has appeared regularly since that first spring edition.

Even though it only publishes twice a year, CRR welcomes submissions year-round. View the submission guidelines listed on the right side of this page to access requirements and information about the editors.

The goal at CRR is to last at least 20 more years, providing, in the words of general editor Dr. Mary Ellen Hartje, “escape, insight, laughter and inspiration.” To continue publishing, though, we need your subscriptions. If you already have a subscription or are not quite ready to commit, please pass along the form to your local library and encourage it to sign up soon.

Concho River Review Submissions

We welcome submissions of high-quality fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Please include a brief cover letter that provides accurate contact information, and a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) if you would like your manuscript returned.

All submissions must be printed on standard-size paper. Letter-quality computer printouts are preferred. Include a SASE or an e-mail address for reply to all submissions. Response time is one to two months for poetry and two to six months for fiction and non-fiction. Once submissions are accepted, editors will request e-mailed or flash drive copies.

Contributors receive a complimentary copy of the issue in which their work appears, and additional contributor’s copies are available for $5 each. CRR requests first rights, print and electronic, which automatically revert to the author on publication.
