Earn a Master’s Degree at the Same Time

You have the option of applying for our integrated program that allows you to earn your B.A. in English and your Master of Arts (M.A.) in English degree in as little as five years.

Our graduates work in the U.S. and internationally in technology, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, education, finance and retail, and as creative writers, artists and small business owners.

World-Class Conference Opportunities

The Natalie Zan Ryan Department of English and Modern Languages is home to the annual ASU Writers Conference in Honor of Elmer Kelton. Writers from all over the country join us on campus for an engaging two-day conference, which brings award-winning authors from all genres to share their works and creativity with the ASU and local communities.

Degree-Enhancing Opportunities

Enhance your degree with one of our many minors! Our minors in English, Creative Writing and Technical Writing pair great with most academic majors. Plus, we offer several scholarships specifically for students in our department. You can also gain hands-on experience helping publish our Oasis literary magazine, or as a tutor in our Writing Center.
