First–Generation Students

Welcome to the First–Generation Mentor Program

Welcome

Hello ASU Student!

Congratulations on your acceptance to Angelo State University! We would like to invite you to participate in the First Generation Host Family Program at Angelo State University. This program will be greatly beneficial for you as a new member of ASU and the San Angelo community.
The First GenerationHost Family Program consist of matching students with a local “host family” who help you feel welcome and help you settle into your new life as a college student. The adjustments to all these new changes are exciting, but also overwhelming. To help you make a smooth transition into life as an undergraduate student at Angelo State University, the First Generation Host program was created for you.
It is our hope that you will decide to join this great experience which will give you a greater insight and understanding of Angelo State University and San Angelo.  The majority of the hosts families are members of the San Angelo community, and are an excellent source of advice and support regarding concerns you may have.  In addition, having a Host Family can facilitate new experiences that you may otherwise never have due to lack of transportation or lack of knowledge about the great places and activities that San Angelo has to offer.
Here are some of the details related to the First GenerationHost Family Program

The most important parts of this program are the benefits you will acquire by establishing a friendship with your host family and the knowledge and support they will provide for you.
We sincerely hope you will join us in this great experience. If you have any questions or concerns about the program please contact us.
If you are interested in participating in the program and have been accepted to Angelo State University, please fill out the application. Submit the form by clicking the SUBMIT button or mail it to us. We will try to match you with a host family quickly, and have them contact you.
We will be more than happy to hear from you!

Sincerely,
Joe Munoz
