Library
The Porter Henderson Library is located on the west side of Johnson Street on the ASU campus. It offers a variety of resources for students persuing an education at ASU. The Library has both books and many online databases to help you in your research. The databases (RamNet, RamCops, RamCat, and the Library of Texas) can be accessed either in the library, from any of the computer labs on campus, or at off-campus locations through EZproxy or through ASU Net Dial-up.
A calendar of library hours for the year is available in the library or you can check the library's home page at http://www.angelo.edu/services/library/.
Circulating Collection
Graduate students may check out books for 42 days and are allowed one renewal for each item. There is no limit on the number of
items that may be checked out at one time, but a block will be placed on a student's library borrowing privileges if more than
five items are overdue at one time, or if $10 or more is owed in fines or fees.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
When articles or books needed for research are not available in Porter Henderson Library, they may be ordered through Interlibrary
Loan. Most interlibrary loans are free of charge, but when a lending library charges for its services, that charge is passed along
to the ASU student. Requests for interlibrary loans are made using on-line forms available through numerous library databases
(RamCat and RamNet) and via the Library's web site.
Materials are normally received through ILL in seven to ten working days. Copies of articles are the borrower's to keep; books have a loan period set by the lending library. Pick up of materials is made by the borrower at the Circulation Desk in the Library. Please bring an ASU ID card when picking up Interlibrary Loan Materials.
TexShare, A Texas Library Resource Sharing Program
A TexShare borrower's card entitles the holder to borrow a limited number of books at other participating Texas libraries. This
card must be issued by Porter Henderson Library for students enrolled at ASU. Apply for the card at the Circulation Desk. More
than 280 public and academic libraries now participate in the TexShare program, but some of the participants do not offer all the
services of the program. Status and borrowing policies for libraries can be verified at Porter Henderson Library or through the
TexShare web site .
RamCaT AND RamNet
RamCat, the online bulletin, may be accessed from any computer on campus or from any location with an Internet connection. RamNet
is an electronic gateway to databases consisting of on-line citations, abstracts, and full text articles. RamNet may be accessed
from on and off-campus by the ASU community. RamNet search instruction sessions are offered by request for students on campus. Ask
at the Library's Reference Desk if help is needed in use of these information resources.
Police
The University Police Department is located west of Johnson Street. Parking hang tags are available here. Any disturbances can be reported to the University Police at 325/942-2071. Report lost or stolen OneCard or personal property loss to the University Police as soon as possible.
The University Police provide a 24-hour-a-day patrol protection to the University campus including all parking lots and residence halls. University police officers are vested with all powers, privileges, and immunities of peace officers within the county, including all streets and roads, in which the University owns, rents, leases, or otherwise controls property.
