My Program - Admission Status (Page 4 of 9)

Types of Admission

Regular Admission - Applicants who are given Regular admission must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average in all graduate-level work. Failure to maintain the requisite 3.0 may result in being put on academic probation or possible dismissal from the graduate program in which the student has been studying.

Provisional Admission - Applicants who are given Provisional admission will be on academic probation, with the requirement that they maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average in all graduate-level work until they have completed at least 9 semester hours of graduate-level work in a degree program at Angelo State University. Failure to maintain the requisite 3.0 may result in dismissal from the graduate program in which the student has been studying.

Non-Degree Admission - Applicants, other than international ones, who hold baccalaureate degrees and who do not wish to pursue a graduate degree at ASU but wish to enroll in courses to further their career development or to explore a new field of interest.

Conditions Attached to My Admission

Tentative Condition Attached to Admission - Applicants who are given admission with a Tentative Condition attached, whether their admission be Regular, Provisional, or Non-Degree, have not yet met all requirements for acceptance. Basically, you have been given a conditional acceptance. If you do not fulfill all the requirements listed on the second page of your acceptance letter within the time period specified, you will be subject to a hold being placed on your file that will not allow you to register for future terms. Once the Graduate School has received all of your missing application requirements you will be notified that the hold has been released.

Missing Transcripts - If you have not done so already, you will need to order one official transcript from every undergraduate school you attended to be sent directly to the Graduate School at ASU Station # 11025, San Angelo, TX 76909-1025. IF YOU HAND DELIVER THE TRANSCRIPT TO THE GRADUATE SCHOOL YOURSELF, IT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED OFFICIAL AND YOU WILL HAVE TO ORDER ANOTHER TRANSCRIPT FOR US.

GRE/GMAT Scores - Are you preparing to take the GRE/GMAT exam? If so, here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. Register about one month before you plan to take the exam.
2. Practice taking the exam on a computer before the day of the test.
3. If you need help studying, the department of Continuing Studies on the ASU campus offers a review course each long term. Call them for more information (325) 942-2339.
4. The Graduate Dean offers a GRE Workshop each long term as well. For more information about the next available session click on this GRE Workshop link, or, call us for more information (325) 942-2169.

Prerequisites - It is possible that you were accepted without having all of your prerequisites complete. If this is the case, there should have been prerequisites listed on the second page of your acceptance letter. You will need to complete the listed courses in the time frame mentioned in your acceptance letter. BEWARE: DON'T TRY TO SKIP THE PREREQUISITE COURSES, THEY HAVE BEEN LISTED FOR YOU TO TAKE FOR YOUR BENEFIT.
