Program Information

Hi, I'm Jeffrey Boone. I am the graduate advisor for the Master of Arts and Communication Degree with a major in communication systems management.

Our degree prepares students for education positions as well as corporate positions in information technology training, planning and public relations, advertising, marketing, as well as industrial training. Our students tend to graduate and go either into a doctrine program in communication or into some corporate capacity typically in the integrated marketing communications area.

Students typically come to our program from a background in communication studies, or speech communication, mass communications or journalism, perhaps drama as well, but you should not be discourage if you have not completed a bachelors degree in those areas. We also have very successful grad students from Psychology, from Business fields, and from education as well.

We have both a thesis and a non-thesis track in our degree program. All students enter on a non-thesis track and after they have completed 15 hours of the 5 courses of graduate work in our department then they can petition if they so chose to go with the thesis track. The non-thesis track is 36 credit hours in communication courses with up to 6 hours of approved electives. The thesis program included 24 credit hours of graduate work in the communication department and then 6 hours of the thesis.
