How high do I need to score on the GRE/GMAT/TOEFL/IELTS?
ASU does not have set scores that you have to make on the GRE or GMAT exams. The scores are considered along with your overall undergraduate GPA, your last 60 hour GPA and your essay.
For international students, there are minimum score requirements on the TOEFL/IELTS exams. Scores cannot be more than two years old, and all programs except physical therapy require these minimum TOEFL scores:
- Paper and pencil test: 550, with at least 55 on each of the three parts
- Computer-based test: 213, with at least 17 on each of the three parts
These are the physical therapy score requirements:
- Paper and pencil test: 600
- Computer-based test: 250
A score of 7 (with a minimum of 6.5 on each part) is ideal for the IELTS.
Can I get provisional admission without submitting GRE/GMAT scores with my application?
If your undergraduate overall GPA is 3.0 or higher, then you may enroll in one semester of graduate courses before ASU evaluates your scores.
Exceptions to this rule are the biology and physical therapy programs, which require that GRE scores be submitted before your application is reviewed. The business administration program also requires GMAT scores before students are enrolled in the program.
All international students are required to submit GRE/GMAT scores before their applications will be reviewed.
What happens if I get accepted provisionally and then do poorly on my GRE or GMAT exam?
When you were accepted provisionally, you were accepted into the College of Graduate Studies and not a specific program. Once we have evaluated your GRE/GMAT scores, you will then either be accepted or denied admission into a specific program.
