Annual Awards Banquet

This is an opportunity for the College of Graduate Studies to honor and recognize its outstanding students. The banquet is held yearly during the spring term. Students are recognized for outstanding graduate GPAs as well as outstanding work performed in the classroom and in the field. Currently enrolled graduate students are invited. Tickets are sold in advance.

2007 Awards

Each distinguished graduate student received a recognition plaque and a monetary award.

Other nominees for the distinguished graduate student awards were also recognized at the banquet. They were: Lacy Jo Davis Harvey of Van Horn, English; Kimberly Burden Gust of Miles, School Administration; Kristen Marie Costa of San Angelo, Industrial/Organizational Psychology; Ramey S. Guerra of Austin, General Psychgology; Molly M. McDonough of San Antonio, Biology; Dallas A. Swafford of San Angelo, Student Development and Leadership in Higher Education; Cathy Humble of San Angelo, Guidance and Counseling; Kerri May of Sweetwater, Educational Diagnostics; and Kelly Rhyne of Haslet, Kinesiology. These nominees recieved a certificate of recognition.

Students who have a 4.0 grade point average after completing at least half of their graduate program and those who have written or presented papers or won awards were also honored.

Discover ASU - held several Saturdays during the fall & spring terms

We take part in 'Discover ASU' sponsored by Angelo State University. Seven times a year every department at ASU gets together to present this program. You can visit us at our booth to learn more about the College of Graduate Studies. Please click on the link above for more information.

FREE GRE Workshops - Fall & Spring Terms

The Who, What, Where, When, and Why about the Graduate Record Examination (February 16, 2008; 9:00am-1:00pm)

Dr. Carol B. Diminnie, the Graduate Dean, presents the seminar and answers your questions about preparing for the Graduate Record Examination. For those of you who are planning to take it within the year, we encourage you to make arrangements to attend the next seminar during the Spring 2008 semester. Grad School & You - Fall & Spring Terms

Our semiannual 'Grad School & You' program is offered to help you make sound decisions concerning graduate studies. (Two sessions: February 11, 2008; 12:30 pm and 7:00pm)

Student Academic Showcase - Fall term

Angelo State University undergraduate and graduate students will participate in the fifth annual Student Research Showcase, sponsered by the College of Graduate Studies, to highlight ASU research for the campus and the local community.

The showcase, will feature table and poster displays on different research projects. Student researchers will be available to discuss their work with fellow students, faculty and the public.

ASU Graduate Dean, Dr. Carol Diminnie, said the Student Research Showcase recognizes student contributions to the universal body of knowledge through their research and creative activities. The annual program also provides student interaction with community members who are interested in reserch activities on campus.

ASU Career Fair

Looking for a job? The Career Development Office sponsors the ASU Job Fair each year in the fall.

ASU Teacher Job Fair

All prospective teachers wanting to know what the job market is like should attend this event. The Career Development Office sponsors this event every spring. School districts from all over Texas come to campus ready to interview students who are ready to start their teaching career.
