Honors Program Advising

Procedures for Honors Program Advising

  1. Make an appointment with your Honors departmental academic advisor. Take along your Honors Program Degree Planning Form to determine your schedule for the following semester.  Your academic advisor will trip your advising flag.
  2. Make an appointment for Honors Program advising with Mr. Richard Jones in the Center for Academic Excellence. Students who have a declared major, but have not had their advising flag tripped by their academic advisor, can not be advised by Mr. Jones.
  3. Mr. Jones will review your schedule and make certain that you are on track in relation to your Honors Program Degree Planning Form and Carry Forward Interview Summary.
  4. If there are no changes to the Honors Program Degree Planning Form, Mr. Jones will initial the form and have you will sign it. Your Honors advising flag will then be tripped.
  5. Any changes to the Honors Program Degree Planning Form must be initialed by Mr. Jones, signed by you and approved by the Honors Program Director before your Honors advising flag can be tripped.
  6. All relevant documents will be provided to you by Mr. Jones.
  7. IMPORTANT: You will receive an electronic permit to register for the Honors courses indicated on your Honors Program Degree Planning Form. You will still need to register for these courses!
  8. Once your academic advising flag and your Honors advising flag have been tripped, you may register for your courses at the same time as senior students can register.
  9. After you register, you must provide a copy of your completed schedule to the Honors Program staff by the end of the regular freshman registration period.
  10. All forms will then be updated and returned to your Honors Program file.
  11. You will be asked to complete an advising/registration evaluation form.
