    • This seminar-style course focuses on strengthening the students’ ability to critically appraise and use different types of resources and to apply concepts to alternate scenarios. Written assignments are designed to give students wide latitude to allow for more creative, but fact-based interpretations of materials. Students will undertake a service project that links them more closely to the community. The class also has opportunities for various enrichment programs, including class trips to sites of historical interest and special discussions with outstanding guest speakers involved in university symposia.

    • This course examines a grouping of texts from the Western canon in terms of specific focal ideas, such as representations of evil or the rise of romanticism. Literature will be examined within historical, religious and cultural contexts that provide a background for the reading as well as for research projects. Enrichment activities may include a class trip to visit museums or sites that pertain to the theme being studied.

  • HONR 3191 - Honors Exploration of Physical Therapy Pathologies

    • Prerequisites: Biology 1480, Biology 2423, and Biology 2424
    • This seminar-style course will focus on pathologies in a topic selected by the instructor (orthopedic, neurologic, or cardiopulmonary disorders). The students will have the opportunity to learn about the disorders, medical diagnosing and treatment of the disorders, and to read research papers related to the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of the disorders. The students will also be expected to write one short paper on an approved diagnosis of choice and possibly role-play a patient for the student physical therapists.

    • This course is intended to introduce Honors students to traditional and current research methods and applications. Students that are interested in attending graduate or professional school will benefit the most from this course. However, every Honors Program student will find themselves using information from this course whenever data or information is presented to them. An interdisciplinary survey of experimental design and data collection will be provided. Additionally, students in this course will develop a research or professional proposal.
