Dental Benefits

Two dental plan options are available to ASU employees. You must be enrolled in one of them if you want your dependents to have dental coverage.

Look at this chart at the ERS Web site for a comparison of the two plans.

New for the Sept. 1, 2009-Aug. 31, 2010 Plan Year: ERS' two dental plans will be offered by HumanaDental. The State of Texas Dental Choice Plan will keep its name, but drop the three-year wait for maximum benefits. Participants will now receive maximum benefits beginning on day one. Also, the maximum annual benefit available in the State of Texas Dental Choice Plan will increase 20 percent to $1,500. The benefits under the HumanaDental DHMO plan (formerly Aetna DMO) will stay the same.

State of Texas Dental Choice Plan

HumanaDental administers this plan. You are allowed to use any dentist and have your dental work covered according to a payment schedule.

You pay less out of pocket if you use a CONNECTION Dental dentist. To search for a CONNECTION dentist in the San Angelo area, use this provider look-up page.

Dental Maintenance Organization (DMO)

The DMO plan is administered by HumanaDental and offers discounted charges on services provided by a primary care dentist (PCD) from a list of approved providers.

If you choose this plan, you will need to visit the Selecting a Primary Care Dentist portion of the ERS Web site and click on the Provider Look-Up link. Once you make your selection and write down your dentist’s name and ID number, you need to contact HumanaDental and give them the information.
