Life Insurance

As part of the health insurance plan, employees receive $5,000 in term life insurance. Life insurance information can be found on the ERS web site. Employees may purchase optional term or dependent term life insurance coverage as follows:

Optional Term Life:
This insurance provides a benefit to a beneficiary in the event of an employee's death. Employees may purchase insurance based on I, II, III, or IV times their annual salary, up to a maximum of $400,000. No Evidence of Insurability is required for levels I or II, if the employee enrolls within the first 30 days of employment.

Dependent Term Life:
This insurance provides a benefit to the employee in the event of a covered dependent's death. Coverage includes $5,000 term life and $5,000 AD&D benefits to all dependents over 14 days old.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance

As part of the health insurance plan, employees receive $5,000 in Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance. AD&D may be purchased separately from the life insurance program and provides coverage in the event of loss of life or body member(s) as a result of accidental causes. Additional AD&D insurance may be purchased in $5,000 increments up to $200,000. Dependents may also be covered.

Evidence of Insurability is not required if AD&D is elected during initial enrollment period. Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance information can be found on the ERS web site.
