Costa Rica 2008

An Iguana in Costa Rica

The 2008 International Studies Program to San Jose, Costa Rica, will provide 15 undergraduate and 5 graduate students the unique opportunity to study ecotourism, biology, and the Spanish language in a hands-on setting. Students will travel to San Jose, Costa Rica, for the second time in the history of study abroad programs at ASU.

Costa Rica, as one of the most politically stable countries in South America, and its capital San Jose are waiting for you. You will have the chance to get in contact with locals, practice intercultural skills, and experience the beauty of Costa Rica.

Overall, students will experience first hand the rich culture of Costa Rica and study the cross-functional areas of business and biology directly at the source. A carefully planned series of campus lectures at Angelo State University will introduce students to the major themes of the program and provide and intensive overview for living and studying abroad.

During these initial class meetings students will begin reading assignments prior to departure. The meetings before departure allow for intensive study sessions while abroad but also allow more time for excursions and educational trips while overseas.

The 2008 program will among others include visits to Arenal Volcano, Poas Volcano, La Paz Waterfalls, and the Rainforest
