Host Family Program
Hello future ASU Student!
You are invited to participate in our International Student Host Family Program at Angelo State University. Since the fall of 2000, this program has matched international students with a local “host family” who helps you to feel welcome and helps you settle in to your new life here in the United States.
Here are some details. I hope you'll decide to be a part of this unique cultural exchange while you are here. You still live on campus, and there is no extra cost for this program.
- We match you with a local family who agrees to plan time together with you (lunch, dinner, or a community event) at least once a month.
- We connect you via email before you arrive so that you can be getting acquainted before the semester begins.
- Your host family will meet you when you arrive at the airport and help you get settled into your life here on campus and in West Texas.
- We ask your host family to include you in their holiday and family celebrations at their home whenever possible.
- We plan several fun Socials (always with food!) during the school year with all of the international students & host families. We start the fall semester with a Get-acquainted "Pot-Luck" Supper at a nearby Texas ranch. You will be invited to participate in special cultural events during the semester, such as symphony concerts and art exhibits through the generosity of host families and friends with extra tickets.
Both you and your host families are enriched with the friendships and cultural exchanges from your time together through this program. We hope you will join us! If you have any questions you want to ask about the program, please feel free to email me at barbbarnhart@suddenlink.net.

Submit the form as soon as possible to my email address. We will try to match you with a host family quickly, and have them contact you.
