The 2008 ASU summer student exchange program with Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM) in Chihuahua, Mexico, will be conducted from June 3 - July 3, 2008. The program will provide 25 students the unique opportunity to develop their proficiency in Spanish, to acquire and develop academic writing, reading, and speaking, and listening skills, and to acquire and develop cultural interaction skills with Spanish native speakers.

Students will travel from San Angelo to ITESM in Chihuahua. ITESM is one of the oldest and largest educational systems in Mexico. Founded in 1943, ITESM comprises 33 campuses in 26 states throughout the Mexican Republic, with a total student population of 47,000.

Students will earn six hours transfer credit for non-advanced Spanish (2 courses from 1301, 1302, 2311, 2312). With special requests, students at the advanced level may seek credit for advanced Spanish. Five one-hour classes consisting of grammar, exercises, culture, listening, and conversation will comprise the program. Excursions may include visits to two of the following cities: Creel, Cuauhtémoc, Hidalgo del Parral, Paquimé, and Zacatecas. Students will also participate in afternoon recreational, commercial, industrial, and cultural visits in Chihuahua, provided by the ITESM staff and/or faculty.
