Ruth Lawanson
Lecturer and Head Volleyball Coach
Biography: Ruth has a B.S. degree from Fresno State University in Business. Lawanson had a storied volleyball playing career, and was a member of the 1992 United States Olympic team that won the bronze medal in the games in Barcelona, Spain. She played four seasons with the U.S. National team and also played on the 1991 World Cup squad that earned a bronze medal in Japan and the 1990 World Championship team that won a bronze medal in the games in China. She won the 1991 Judy Bellomo Players Award as a member of the U.S. National team. She also won a gold medal with the 1982 U.S. Olympic Festival West Region team. In addition to her coaching duties, Ruth teaches Theory of Coaching Volleyball and Weight Training in the kinesiology department.
