Marty Smith
Lecturer and Assistant Baseball Coach
Biography: Marty Smith is entering his third season as assistant coach for the Angelo State baseball team.
Smith will handle the infielders for the second straight season after coaching the outfielders his first year. He will also serve as first base coach.
Following the 2006 season, four of Smith's five starting infielders were selected to the All-Lone Star Conference South Division first team. In 2005 two of his three outfielders made the All-LSC South first team.
He spent the summer of 2005 coaching in the New England Collegiate League, along with former Ram coach Josh Scott, for the Newport Gulls. He was the position and hitting coach, as well as third base coach en route to coaching the Gulls to the NECL championship. Additionally, he coached the NECL's Offensive Player of the Year.
Smith teaches a variety of physical activity courses in the kinesiology department.
